² Co-compression is a patent-pending method developed by Genozip for taking advantage of data redundancies between files, in order to compress them concurrently and achieve better compression than if compressing each file independently. When uncompressing, the separate files are retrieved. See here: Deep and Pair.

³ BAM-assisted compression of FASTQ files is a patent-pending method, where a FASTQ file can be compressed significantly faster and usually better, by letting Genozip inspect the related BAM file. The BAM file is not compressed and it is not required for uncompressing the FASTQ. This is perfect for situations in which both FASTQ and BAM data is available when compressing, but only the FASTQ needs to be stored for the long term.

⁴ USER_MSG is a feature that allows you to embed an arbitrary message of your choice in a compressed file, which will be displayed to a user that uncompresses that file. It is useful for providing metadata about the file compressed, legal or compliance information, customer support information, etc.
